Charlton Family Centre
The Business Challenge
A recent change in legislation now states that all members of staff that work with children need to pass a food safety qualification as they are all in some way involved in preparing or serving food to the children that they look after.
This is obviously costly and difficult to plan for children’s centre managers as it means they need to fit the training around their opening hours at a time that is suitable for all staff to attend.
The Solution
Greenwich Community College were able to offer the CIEH Level 2 Food Safety in Catering course at a reduced cost to Charlton Family Centre as they had a full class of learners to attend and they asked for the course to take place at their centre. We were able to organise the course quickly for them in order for it to take place on a day when the centre would be closed and all staff could therefore attend.
The Impact
Staff members have now completed their qualification and Charlton Family Centre have met their legal obligations.
Employer View
The manager of the centre attended the course alongside her staff. She said that she found the course very informative and easy to follow and commented that ‘all of my questions were answered’.
All of the learners that attended the course said that they would recommend the course to others.
