What does the course include?
The Association of Accounting Technicians is the professional body for qualified accounting technicians/support staff working in accounting/finance functions. The study programme is divided into three stages:
- Stage 1 – Foundation (QCF Level 2)
- Stage 2 – Intermediate (QCF Level 3)
- Stage 3 – Technician (QCF Level 4)
This course is the first stage and is assessed by a combination of Central Assessment (exam set and marked by the AAT) and Devolved Assessment (assessed by the college). Level 3 builds on Accounting Skills and Knowledge already acquired.
What are the benefits for employers?
AAT accredited staff make finance departments more adaptable and means that they are seen as a quality organisation to work for.
What do I need to get onto this course?
No formal qualifications although an acceptable level of language/numeracy is required.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is a combination of Central Assessment (exam set and marked by the AAT) and Devolved Assessment (assessed by the college).
Where does it lead?
The following stage, ACCA, CIMA, etc. In addition, the AAT is negotiating with British universities in order that students who have completed the Intermediate stage (QCF Level 3) may progress to a degree course in Accounting.
