What does the course include?
The Association of Accounting Technicians is the professional body for qualified accounting technicians/support staff working in accounting/finance functions. The study programme is divided into three stages:
- Stage 1 – Foundation (QCF Level 2)
- Stage 2 – Intermediate (QCF Level 3)
- Stage 3 – Technician (QCF Level 4)
This course is the second stage and is assessed by a combination of Central Assessment (exam set and marked by the AAT) and Devolved Assessment (assessed by the college). Level 3 builds on Accounting Skills and Knowledge already acquired.”

What do I need to get onto this course?
AAT Foundation Stage, A level Accounting, 2 other A levels, or you need to have spent some time in a relevant accounting environment. You may also be considered if you have relevant accountancy experience.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is via a combination of Central Assessment (exam set and marked by the AAT) and Devolved Assessment (assessed by the college).
Where does it lead?
The course leads to AAT Technician stage (QCF Level 4) or you may apply to progress to a degree course at university. South East London Lifelong Learning Network (SELLLN) and Greenwich Community College have negotiated a progression agreement onto the following programmes with the University of Greenwich: BA Hons Accounting and Financial Information Systems BA Hons Accounting and Financial UG BA Hons Accounting, Auditing and Assurance
This progression agreement specifies the entry requirements for learners to progress on to specific programmes offered by the University of Greenwich. For full details please talk to the course tutor. An AAT qualification is also well recognised by employers.
