What does the course include?
Five Mandatory units:
- Provide general assistance to visitors
- Monitor the security and environment of items
- Implement emergency procedures to maintain the safety of people and items
- Contribute to the care of the premises
- Assist the work of colleagues in the organisation
Plus 2 optional units from the following list:
* Control the security of items in the premises * Contribute to the care of items * Provide information on specific items for visitors * Assist the display and exhibition of items * Move items within the premises * Transport items to new locations * Sell goods and services to visitors * Contribute to the effectiveness of workflowWhat are the benefits for employers?
This course will benefit employers by having a positive impact on the quality of the service. It will also improve staff retention, quality and productivity and health and safety awareness.
What do I need to get onto this course?
To be working within the heritage industry for example in a museum, visitor attraction or gallery as an attendant, assistant, or volunteer.
How will I be assessed?
The QCF is an evidence-based qualification. You will be advised on the collection of evidence and assessed by tutors from GCC at your workplace.
Where does it lead?
This qualification gives staff the opportunity to have their skills recognised and gives a thorough grounding in heritage and dealing with visitors. It can lead to further QCF qualifications.
