What does the course include?

This course is specifically tailored to each individual employer’s requirements. The course is designed to be flexible, to accommodate the needs of the employer and is delivered on the employer’s site.

This course is bespoke to each care setting.

The aim is for the candidates to have a greater understanding of the threat posed by fire, how to reduce the fire risk and the actions to take in the event of a Fire. You will learn the different types of fire extinguishers, main course of fires, fire precautions and actions to take on discovering a fire, evacuation procedures and signage.

What are the benefits for employers?

Enforcing authorities recommend that all staff should receive basic fire safety induction training and attend refresher sessions at pre-determined intervals.

This course can be held at the employers place of work or any of the college’s sites

What do I need to get onto this course?

There are no formal entry requirements for this course

How will I be assessed?

Following the 3 hour training session there will be a short multiple choice test, candidates achieving a 50% pass receive an attendance certificate.

Where does it lead?

Greenwich Community College can also offer Fire Marshalls training, which would be required for care homes with staff working on a shift basis.

This training would last 3 hours and 30 minutes.
